I first met the members of The League of STEAM at Steam-Con Two about what feels like ten or fifteen hundred years ago (though I think it was actually only three). They immediately grabbed me, literally grabbed me, and introduced themselves. Later they grabbed me figuratively with some of the most imaginative, whimsical, and functional steampunk inventions I’d seen to this day. My favorite still being Crackitus Pott (aka Nick Bauman)’s shoulder mounted launcher. When a giant suctioned plunger was fired from it made a cartoonish, and thoroughly enjoyable “POP”! and it was just as one would expect from such a contraption.
For those not in the know, The League of STEAM is a Los Angeles based performance troop that specializes in the elimination of all things paranormal in a most steampunk and anachronistic way. You can watch both the first and second season via their Youtube channel. The series is fantastic for people who are both die hard steampunks and even those who just like whimsical and funny web shorts. The episodes are tightly written and compact (I was just watching The Tiki Room which clocks in at just under 4 minutes), so you can watch ten of them on a lunch break.
But Lord Baron, the title of this article says something about a “kickstarter”. The League of STEAM has a kickstarter to fund their third season. Support the League today! It’s easy and you can get some great perks. Below is a message from Nick and Robin of telling you why supporting them is a great idea!
