Festival2014Roll up! Roll up! The Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival (www.chicagocircusfest.com) is coming in January 2014 to fulfill its goals of connection, education and inspiration through workshops and performances.

The Circus Now Series will offer workshops on VAST (Versatile Arts Skills Tracker) software, Thematic Writing for Circus, Lighting 101, Character Creation, Building Circus Work, Anatomy Basics and Audition Preparation. Panels will be held on Emerging Circus Thought, the Circus for Social Good, Developments in Contemporary Clowning, Transitioning from Amateur to Professional, Circus Art and Industry in Quebec, Surviving in the Circus Industry and New Circus Genres. Individual workshops are $15; all sessions are available with a $50 CN@CCCF Pass.

The Athenaeum Theatre at 2936 N. Southport in Chicago, IL, will host performances by the pedigreed Flip Fabrique, Seattle’s existential The Acrobatic Conundrum, the poetic acrobatics of New Mexico’s Ricochet, the animation/circus/dance of Ilmatila, the international edition of Chicago’s own El Circo Cheapo Cabaret, the American Youth Circus Organization, actor/comedian/artist Dean “Honeybuns” Evans and juggler Brian P. Dailey.

TwistLinks Hall in Constellation at 3111 N Western in Chicago, IL, will see the acrobatic contortion of Andreane Leclerc and one-woman circus Krin Haglund.
