Gogol Bordello
One of the most demented and infectious live bands in the world! Get ready for the ethno-clash dance party of your life from the gypsy punk powerhouse GOGOL BORDELLO.

Gogol Bordello’s Trans-Continental Hustle, the group’s American Recordings debut, is perhaps the most ambitious undertaking in the group’s already remarkable decade-long career and it’s the result of an inspired, year-length collaboration with famed producer Rick Rubin. Gogol Bordello is arguably the hardest working — and hardest rocking — group of our discordant new century, maintaining a touring schedule and an onstage energy level that would send the average combo running for the emergency room. While putting out several critically acclaimed Gypsy Punks and SUPER TARANTA! albums, the intrepid band has literally traversed even the farthest corners of the globe, building a substantial world-wide fan base via gigs and festival appearances throughout Eastern Europe, South America and the Middle East, along with stops in Australia, Western Europe and in their adopted U.S. homeland.

The Marble Palace Presents: Mix and Mingle at the Movies Now Showing – The Great Gatsby (1974)
Come enjoy an evening of vintage cocktails and classic film in honor of one of literature’s greatest party hosts: Jay Gatsby.

Baz Luhrmann is stylishly reinventing The Great Gatsby for the big screen this spring, but the classic 1974 film version—starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow and filmed in the grand Gilded Age-era mansions of Newport, Rhode Island—is still a favorite among film buffs for its faithful rendering of this timeless F. Scott Fitzgerald tale.

In homage to Gatsby’s famous parties, this evening features vintage cocktails and a screening of 1974’s The Great Gatsby (144 min.) in the Driehaus Museum’s own Gilded Age mansion. After enjoying cocktails at 7 p.m. and exploring the Museum’s interiors after-hours, the film will begin in the historic ballroom at 7:30 p.m., complete with popcorn.

Guests are invited and encouraged to wear 1920s-style attire, as prizes will be awarded during the film’s intermission. Must be 21 or older to attend.

Cocktails 7 p.m.; Film 7:30 p.m.

Candy Town
We knew about you before the twentieth century, of course. We heard of the liars, thieves and killers who lived in the New World. You weren’t particularly interesting to us, because we lied, stole and killed as well, and we did these with more panache. You were frightened, loudmouthed rookies to us.

But in 1900 we began to hear your heart, through your piano scores and your shellac cylinders. It was then we realized that you are as wolves who revel in killing their prey, then weep for them. Through your music, we understood you to be a nation of butcher poets, and as such, our siblings. You are very dear to us, so it’s only natural that we should want to share OUR music with YOU. And if we should also on occasion kidnap your children, steal from your merchants or slaughter your magistrates, do not think of it as an act of disrespect.

Think of it as a kiss between lovers.

Steam Powered Giraffe at Anime Midwest
Anime Midwest is very excited to present Steam Powered Giraffe! SPG will be performing at Anime Midwest in their very own concert, open exclusively to the people attending our epic Chicago anime convention.

When will the SPG show be?
We can not confirm this with certainty until our final schedule is released, however it is very likely they will be performing on Friday evening, sometime between 6pm and 10pm. You will need to wait until the final convention schedule is released on our website to know for sure - so don't go booking any one-day plans, because they may end up playing Saturday, it's just not likely.

Is there anything but the concert?
The band will be doing a Q&A and autograph signings on the day(s) of the convention that they are not performing.
