Lord Baron Joseph C.R. Vourteque IV

Yes! It IS that time again, is it not? Now you may be asking, “2.0 good Lord Baron? But that neither makes contextual sense NOR is it antiquated.” Yes, you’re correct, but that is beside the point.
As it is a NEW year (2010 in case you some-how did not know… ) I’m unofficially entitling all RL&GEMS Pivate, Semi-Private, Some-What-Semi-Private, Open-To-General-Public-Whom-We-Approve-Of and events to appease the masses the SECOND in our series (2.0 to use the ‘computer people’s’ terminology!) What started last year as a small gathering of friends at the initial Chez Vourteque has grown (if you’ve seen the pictures) into GRAND GALA EVENTS!
Well, perhaps not GRAND GALA EVENTS – but fun ones with a good amount of wonderful people.
With that stated. Save THIS date (if you wish to join us).
Tuesday January 26th, starting roughly around 9pm at a location that will be disclosed to those who contact myself or another member of the collective personally, we will be holding a lovely affair. Wine, cheeses, more wine, some lovely dishes from the good Mr. Wes, more wine and of course, lovely outfits on lovely people.

I see it fairly well now…
“You know” Says Warner Brothers Executive 1 to Warner Brothers Executive 2 “the kids are really into this ‘Steampunk’ thing these days.”
“Steampunk?” Says WBE 2.
“Yeah, Steampunk, it’s kind of like re-writing history, as if, say, Abraham Lincoln had a Gatling gun for a left arm, or if Sherlock Holmes knew more about physics and chemistry than the top scientists of his time.”
“So a Sherlock Holmes movie then?”
“Already in post.”
With that stated, you should go see it. That is not entirely said because my family owns a majority share in most Hollywood picture houses, but also because the new Sherlock Holmes movie is a wonderfully entertaining and visually beautiful ride of a film.
As a pure spectator, Sherlock Holmes delights on a number of levels. First and foremost, I found myself drawn into the movie’s initial frames due to nothing more than the soundtrack. This leads into a feverish opening that leaves you wondering why the hell Sherlock is running madly through the streets on London. Inter-cut this with a series of, what you assume are, police carriages hot on his heels. Follow this with Sherlock breaking into what seems to be a random gate, plotting how to take out what you assume is some “evil henchman” and stumbling upon some kind of occultist ritual group that is very obviously about to kill a young woman. THEN… well, you can watch it for yourself.

Lord Baron Joseph C.R. Vourteque IV
On the lovely evening on December 1st, I, the Lord Baron Vourteque, decided to humbly open up my abode to the strange, oft-unruly, sometimes macabe, and always beautiful members, friends and family of the Royal Ladies’ & Gentlemens’ Experimental Madness Society for a private soiree!
The rules were simple.
1. One must come in regalia superior to that of the low-man that ravages about the streets in such numbers in this sad day and age.
2. One must respect the space.
3. One may bring libation or small plates of food themselves.
4. Lastly, and one must enjoy themselves.
Past that, all was fair game.
What follows are images from the soiree from such esteemed photo-luminists as the lovely Lady Lisa Marie and the good Mr. Wes. Continue reading Field Report – RLGEMS Soiree December…

Hello hello!
SO happy to have been a part of last night’s exquisite soiree! Pictures and report to come up soon so those of you who missed it/are not of a fortitude allowed at our events, can gawk and stare and wish that you too had attended our soiree fantastique!
“But – good Lord Baron” – you do ask – “are there events that lowly peasantry such as mineself can attend with or without the esteemed presence of yourself?”
The answer is – yes, yes there are.
FIRST and FOREMOST!!!!

The Good Mr. Wesley Groves
In mid-October Chicago’s Primitive, finely represented by Joseph Rudy, granted the RL&GEMS a private tour of it’s voluminous and odd Bridgeport warehouse space. A tremendous outing for our group, the assembled mostly lamented the recession in the wake of viewing such fineries as Primitive’s adventurers had scoured the Earth to put on offer.
RL&GEMS (semi-) assembled:
