The Circle City Aerodrome (http://www.circlecityaerodrome.org) nonprofit society for steampunk arts and culture presents A Dark Victorian Romance. Their second annual immersion weekend will host events free and open to the public as well as a la carte events like tea, a pub-crawl, a Masquerade Ball and absinthe and scotch tastings. The events will be held in the Columbia Club, a private club on downtown Indianapolis’ Monument Circle. They run February 14 (Valentine’s Day) through 16, 2014.
Free events include art shows, vendors, tea dueling, panels, lectures and a Costume Throw-Down. For a premium, there will be workshops, demonstrations and lessons in dance and dueling (swordplay and marksmanship, not tea).
Valentine’s Night sees the Steampunk Cabaret: Absinthe Makes the Heart Grow Fonder. The 21+ show features the talent of the Angel Burlesque, voted Indianapolis’ Best Burlesque Troupe in 2012 & 2013. Saturday night sees the Grand Masquerade Ball: Dancing with the Green Fairy. The Aerodrome beckons, ”Join us for an evening of Belle Époque elegance infused with frivolity borne of Absinthe’s Green Fairy and spiked with a dash of Gilded Age Intrigue.” Sunday wraps up with the CCA Annual Meeting, and probably some staggering from Saturday’s indulgence.
The Columbia Club can be found at 121 Monument Circle, Indianapolis, IN. Tickets for A Dark Victorian Romance events are available at http://www.eventzilla.net/web/event?eventid=2139009536.
