The Steamstock train pulls into the station on July 23, bringing a shipment of Frenchy and the Punk, The Cog Is Dead, and This Way to the Egress.
The bands hopped the rails on the east coast to embark upon a cross-country musical steampunk tour.
Frenchy and the Punk return with their fiercely energetic combination of European folk, punk snarl, and drum battles. Their latest CD Elephant Uproar bristles with manic instrumental glee.
The Cog Is Dead formed in Grimsby, England, in 1893. Their time travel has inspired them to absorb an array of musical history and distill their own brew of merriment. Their latest album is Full Steam Ahead!
This Way to the Egress mixes up klezmer, swing and Balkan bounce. The new Mighty Seed transcends the sophomore slump and emphasizes the happy feet. (I’ve gushed about it elsewhere.)
Interim dancing music will be provided by Chicago’s very own Lords and Ladies DJs.
Here’s the Facebook Event page if you’d like to join us there, too!
The Steamstock 2013 Train Tour Chicago stop will be at Wise Fool’s Pub, 2270 N Lincoln, Chicago, IL. 9pm, 21+, $15. Buy your tickets at the door!
