On May 21, 2016, at 9pm, Burnt City Brewing will hold their 4th Annual Craft Beer Prom & Steampunk Ball at 2747 N Lincoln Avenue in Chicago. Amy Jones, marketing manager at Burnt City Brewing, was kind enough to answer a few questions for us.
This is the fourth year of the Ball. How has the event evolved?
When we first started beer prom in 2013, it was all about drinking a ton of beer and dancing badly. Over the years, we’ve incorporated hard liquor into beer prom. Kind of counter-intuitive, but it works.
There will be a DJ and a costume contest. What other kinds of liveliness can be expected?
We’ll have tons of awesome Burnt City Beer, as well as beers from Penrose Brewing. There will be dancing, bowling, adventure and romance.
Burnt City will be collaborating with Penrose Brewing Company. What will they be providing?
We’re collaborating with Penrose on a sour pear saison, as well as tapping a half dozen of their other beers. The lineup hasn’t been finalized, but we’ll have a fantastic variety of beers on hand.
Burnt City rises from Atlas Brewing. How will the new identity affect the Ball?
The name and concept of Burnt City Brewing comes from a desire to stay true to ourselves and not let sensibility get in the way of awesomeness. The Ball will be a great opportunity for us to celebrate this transition.
How does one get in? Will there be a fee?
The Burnt City Steampunk Ball will be open to the public with no cover.
