Once upon a time, in the Magical Land of Cheese, an enterprising young convention decided to hold its second gathering of steampunks. They summoned the retrofuturists from near and far and enchanted them. They became their favorite fairly tales!
Geneva Steam 2016 presents Once Upon A Time. Attendees are encouraged to gear up the Brothers Grimm and mod Mother Goose.
There will be panels to compliment the theme: “Fairy Dust and Crystals,” “Radical Cinderella,” What Victorian Children Read (& What Steampunks Might Borrow From),” and “The Universality of Folklore.” Newbies can learn from “Intro to Steampunk Literature,” “Putting Electronical Doodads Into Your Steampunk (for beginners)” and “How to Pose for Steampunk Pictures.”
Entertainment includes The Dublin O’Shea Band, Milwaukee vaudevillians Dead Man’s Carnival and an adaptation of The Cold Heart by mystical theatre troupe Terra Mysterium. Mother Goose will descend from her airship The Grey Lag Goose, to roam and share her stories and rhymes.
Geneva Steam will be held at Lake Lawn Resort at 2400 East Geneva Street, Delavan, WI. It runs Friday March 11 10am to 6pm, Saturday March 12 from 10am to 6pm (with a Grand Ball at 8pm) and Sunday March 13 from 10am to 2pm.
