In case you have neither heard nor seen, The Mysterious Explorations of Jasper Morello is quite possibly the most beautifully animated film I have ever watched. It is dark, it is strange, it is whimsical and yes, it is pretty damn steampunk, all that aside, it is above anything: incredible.
It was done in the silhouette “shadow puppet” style by an Australian animation company. The official website is HERE. If you liked this movie, which I’d be hard pressed to think of someone who would not (well perhaps I can think of ONE person), the website speaks of THREE more movies. I’m very much looking forward to them.
Now, you are saying, I loved this movie so much I want to grab my 8mm vintage camera and make a movie that is nothing at all like the above movie, but, alas, where doth I getteth ye olde 8mm film?
RetroThing.com – a favorite of mine, and one on the blog roll, has your answer. You can actually get the film for as low as $10, which is pretty awesome. The entry is HERE and John Schwind: International Film Broker is, well, back there (I hyperlinked his super hero-esq name).
And with that good ladies & gentlemen of madness – I am out!

I love your site. I will spread the word to everyone I know – and I know so many people who will find it as amazing as I do.
